Montriond HamletThe picturesque hamlet of Montriond offers excellent access to the vast Portes Du Soleil from the high speed bubble at Ardent taking you directly into Avoriaz The access is easy with regular free ski buses passing through the village only a few metres from Brown Bear Ski Lodge and also with our own efficient mini-bus service to and from the slopes. The village is only 20 minutes on foot from Morzine along the flat, or 5 minutes by bus.Restaurants, Bars & Ski Hire Within MontriondThe hamlet has a small centre with a couple of bars and restaurants, an excellent ski hire shop, Ardent Sports Ski Hire, a doctor's surgery, a grocery store and a very pretty church.Guests staying at Brown Bear Ski Lodge benefit from a 10% discount when renting ski equipment from Ardent Sports and can leave their ski equipment at the sister shop at the foot of Ardent bubble overnight so there is no need to lug skis and boots back to the chalet. Skiing And SnowboardingFrom Montriond the easiest access to the ski slopes is by Ardent telecabine which takes you up to the plateau de La Lecherette, this flat area is ideal for begginner skiers & boarders. From the plateau there is a choice of chairlifts taking you either up into Avoriaz town and ski area or towards Chatel or Le Crosset in Switzerland.Other Winter ActivitiesFor non skiers Montriond and the surrounding area offers a whole host of other activities including: snow shoeing with many scenic routes such as the walk around the stunning and mostly frozen lake of Montriond; ice diving for the adventurous in the icy waters of the lake; paragliding; cross country skiing; tobogganing; balloon flights; dog sledding and snow mobiles. Or why not try visit the historic 11th century Abbey at St Jean D'Aulps only a few kilometres from Montriond village. Morzine is also only a easy 20 minute walk from Montriond. |
