Morzine Winter Ski Resort

Morzine Town

Morzine is a beautiful, traditional alpine ski resort set in the heart of the vast  Portes Du Soleil ski area. The mix of French, British and Scandinavian visitors combined with the traditional chalet style buildings stand it apart from many other purpose built, almost entirely British resorts. Morzine is situated only 1 hour 15 minutes from Geneva at an altitude of 1000m -2466m.

There is a good selection of sports and gifts shops, creperies and patisseries all open until 7pm offering plenty of time for a full days skiing and some shopping in the evening. For those thirsty skiers there is a great choice of bars. A favourite bar for apres ski straight from the slopes is the Crepu. New for summer 2009 "La Coup De Coeur" a very smart new wine bar with funky decor & an extensive wine list. After dinner popular choices are the Tibetan Cafe, Dixie Bar, the Cavern and the Coyote and then onto the Opera or Paradis nightclub if you still have the energy.

For the staff night off you are free to sample one of the local restaurants, some of our favourites are: L'Etale, La Chaudanne, L'Atelier and La Chamade restaurant.

For those who don't ski or snow board there is plenty on offer in resort: ice-skating; snowshoeing; massage and jacuzzi, visiting the local fruiterie where they show you how they make the local cheeses, the weekly local market or on the mountain: walks around the beautiful Lake at Montriond snowshoeing with a local guide; paragliding and skidooing for the adventurous. Further afield Geneva, Chamonix and Annecy are all within an hour and a half drive away and there are is also plenty besides skiing for the children to do.

Morzine Skiing & Snowboarding

Morzine is ideally situated for mixed ability groups due to its location with access to the slopes of Morzine and Les Gets via the Pleney lift on one side of the town and access via the Supermorzine lift to Avoriaz, Chatel, Les Crosets and other Portes Du Soleil resorts. The Morzine and Les Gets ski area is fantastic for beginners and intermediates while Avoriaz and the other resorts not only have a good selection of blues but a wide choice of more challenging red and black runs and off-piste terrain. For more information on the Portes Du Soleil ski area please see our skiing and snowboarding information.
We would all love to come back and have no hesitation in recommending you to our friends - Marian English, Xmas 06 & 07, Allouette & Martinet.
