Why March is the perfect time to come skiing…

You’d be forgiven for worrying that conditions in the Alps in March might not be that good. I mean we’re heading towards the end of the season after all. But you couldn’t be more wrong… think sunshine, amazing snow and warmer weather. March is in fact the PERFECT time to be in Morzine and Les Gets.

1: SNOW

March comes after February, which is traditionally the snowiest month of the season. This means there’s a fantastic base both on and off the pistes. You’ll find the mornings are colder so the conditions perfect for piste skiing and the afternoons warmer so great for off piste and park sessions. There really is something for every type of skier and boarder.

2: SUNSHINE AND LONGER DAYS

March is one of the sunniest months of the season. You’ll be able to enjoy lunch outside looking out at some of the most stunning views in the Portes du Soleil. The days are longer as well meaning apres ski also goes on for longer! Don’t forget the sun cream or you’ll go home sporting a very fetching goggle tan!

3: WARMER TEMPERATURES

The main school holidays including Christmas and half term are over by March which means most people have already had their winter ski holiday. This means the slopes are quieter, there are fewer big ski schools operating and you’ll be able to enjoy some really quiet pistes.

5: AMAZING EVENTS

Because of the weather and the warmer temperatures, there are loads of amazing events taking place across the Portes du Soleil in March. The not to be missed events include the “Rock the Pistes” music festival which is taking place on from the 19th-25th March. It means there’s free concerts and apres ski gigs taking place across the Portes du Soleil. Ski, music and beer- what more could we need?
