The Portes du Soleil in summer is arguably more beautiful and has more on offer in terms of choice of activities than the winter. Once the snow melts the Alpine meadows turn a vibrant lush green, frozen lakes turn brilliant blue and tempting for a little dip, the meadows are abundant with wild flowers in early summer, enjoy breath taking views and listen to the tinkling of cow bells and whistling marmottes.

One of the main attractions of this area is its sheer size and scope and with over 800km of marked walking routes and over 380 kilometers of marked mountain biking routes you will keep wanting to come back to explore more..

The situation of both Morzine and Les Gets make them ideal bases for exploring the Portes Du Soleil but also within a couple of ours drive away and well worth a visit is the beautiful university town of Annecy, the medieval town of Yvoire on the shore of Lake Geneva, Chamonix where a trip up the Aiguille Du Midi is a must and for the girls a spa day at Lavey Les Bains is well worth a trip.

We loved the idyllic location of Chalet Sol Re, we feel well & truely relaxed! The apartment was perfect for us, thanks for all your help. The Brown's, Chalet Sol Re, July 14.

Lifts For Bikers & Walkers

From the end of June till the beginning of September the 12 resorts of the Portes Du Soleil are linked by 24 lifts enabling bikers and walkers to explore this area. The lifts are specially adapted to carry bikes and allow both mountain bikers and walkers to access specific walking and biking routes, so you don’t need to be super fit to reach the peaks!
