Montriond In The Summer

Montriond is a pretty hamlet on the outskirts of Morzine, it is perhaps most famous for its stunning lake which is one of the most popular places to visit in the summer. Montriond, with its own bar, restaurant, little shop and quaint village centre, is a beautiful part of the Portes du Soleil and well worth visiting.

The location of Montriond is perfect in the summer as you can drive to Morzine in under 5 minutes but Montriond itself is lovely and tranquil. It takes about half an hour to walk into Morzine along the river trail which is flat, pretty and a perfect walk for all the family.

Just a few kilometers up from Montriond is Les Lindarets, otherwise known as the goat village. It’s also home to many great mountain restaurants! The views from the restaurant terraces are stunning and the children will love feeding the goats, making it a nice place stop for hungry walkers, bikers and families alike.

Montriond Lake

Lake Montriond is one of the largest lakes in the area and with its turquoise crystal clear water and stunning views really is an amazing place to visit whilst you’re on holiday here. The lake has a specially sectioned off swimming lake for families and children, an area for canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding and marked routes for bikers and walkers. With horse rides, a splash pool and a brand new wooden play park, the children will also love spending time at the lake. It really is a day out for the whole family.

There are some amazing restaurants at the lake. They have local speciality menus and the views from their terraces can’t be beaten. There are also and plenty of grassy banks for taking a picnic. And of course…ice creams available at plenty of spots around the lake.

If you’re here in August, don’t miss the huge firework display at the lake – usually on the first Saturday of the month.
