Practical Info
- Schedule: The Spartan opening ceremony is on the evening of the 2nd July with the races running across the weekend from the 3rd. For the full program of the weekend visit the spartan website here.
- How it works : those who have entered to compete, will race in their chosen distance and will face a number of obstacles throughout the course. Failure to complete the obstacle results in penalties! Each race is started by elite runners followed by age category and then open entries.
- Access : you must pay to enter the race.
- Getting there : the race starts in Morzine so you will be in the heart of the action!
- Key notes : The opening ceremony is 18:00 on the 2nd July and the Spartan village closes on the 5th at 19:00.
Experience / Route Details
The Spartan Ultra course is 50k with 60 obstacles. The trail takes runners to Nyon peak, traverses the col de joux plan and loops back round to finish in Morzine centre.
The different race lengths encourage entry by all. The 5k can be seen as an introduction to the world of Spartan with the longer races suited to the more experienced athletes. The childrens 1k-3k races take place in the Parc Dereches.
What's Included
The race ticket gets you entry to your chosen race and entrance to the spartan festival. As a finisher you also earn an event medal, t-shirt and of course huge bragging rights.

Outside, you’ll find an Olympic-sized pool (50m x 21m), a shallow children’s pool, and a baby pool with slides and water jets. Another must-visit is Aquariaz, a water park in Avoriaz designed as an aquatic paradise in the mountains. For a more natural swimming experience, nothing beats the Alpine lakes surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery. Fishing enthusiasts will find several excellent spots in Morzine, including Lac Des Mines D’Or, Lake Montriond, and the Plan du Rocher lake. Additionally, the Dranse River, which flows through Morzine, is renowned for being a spawning ground for the highly sought-after Lake Geneva trout. A permit is required to fish and can be purchased online, allowing you to enjoy the serene fishing experience in these beautiful locations.
