Morzine In The Winter

Morzine is a beautiful, traditional Alpine ski resort nestled in the heart of the expansive Portes Du Soleil ski area. Conveniently located just 1 hour and 15 minutes from Geneva, it’s an ideal destination for a short ski break or a weekend getaway.

Unlike purpose-built ski resorts that open only during the ski season, Morzine is a year-round town. This makes it quite large and diverse, featuring a wide selection of bars, restaurants, sports and gift shops, creperies, and patisseries. These establishments stay open late, allowing visitors to enjoy a full day of skiing followed by evening shopping and dining.

For those who don’t ski or snowboard, Morzine offers a variety of activities. You can enjoy ice-skating, snowshoeing, massages, and jacuzzis. A visit to the local fruiterie is a unique experience where you can see cheese being made. The weekly local market is also a must-visit. On the mountain, you can take guided snowshoeing walks around the picturesque Lake Montriond, try paragliding, or go skidooing if you’re seeking adventure.

Additionally, the nearby cities of Geneva, Chamonix, and Annecy are all within an hour and a half drive, providing further opportunities for exploration.

Morzine Bars & Restaurants

Looking for some après-ski action straight from the slopes? The Tremplin, located at the foot of Pleney, often features a DJ and boasts a brilliant atmosphere.

For those who prefer not to leave the piste, Happy Hours Bar at the foot of the Ardent telecabine also hosts DJs every Wednesday night and offers a convenient taxi service back into town.

If you’re looking for something more sophisticated, Le Coup De Coeur and La Chamade are both stylish wine bars with funky decor and extensive wine lists. For after-dinner fun, popular choices include the Tibetan Cafe, Dixie Bar, the Cavern, and the Coyote. If you still have energy to spare, head to the Opera nightclub.

For those staying in one of our self-catered properties, Morzine offers a large selection of local restaurants. Some of our favorites include L’Etale, La Chaudanne, L’Atelier, and La Chamade restaurant. You can also find more of our resararunt recommendations here. If you’re staying with us in a catered chalet, we can book restaurants for you on staff days off. Alternatively, if you prefer to stay in and relax, you can order food delivery from Morzine Eats.

Nestled in the French Alps, Morzine offers unique charms year-round, but the interseasons—spring and autumn—reveal a quieter, authentic side perfect for those seeking a serene alpine escape. Between the bustling ski season and the lively summer months, Morzine’s spring and autumn provide a peaceful retreat amid stunning scenery. See more
