Morzine In The Winter
Morzine is a beautiful, traditional Alpine ski resort set in the heart of the vast Portes Du Soleil ski area. Morzine is situated only 1 hour 15 minutes from Geneva making it an ideal ski resort for a skiing short break or a ski weekend.
As it is a year round town rather then a purpose built ski resport that just opens up in season it is quite large and has a good selection of bars and restaurants, sports and gifts shops, creperies and patisseries all open until 7pm offering plenty of time for a full days skiing and some shopping in the evening.
For those who don’t ski or snow board there is plenty on offer in resort: ice-skating; snowshoeing; massage and jacuzzi, visiting the local fruiterie where they show you how they make the local cheeses, the weekly local market or on the mountain: walks around the beautiful Lake at Montriond snowshoeing with a local guide; paragliding and skidooing for the adventurous. Further afield Geneva, Chamonix and Annecy are all within an hour and a half drive away.
