Reach4thealps is an established and successful Chalet Company based in Morzine, run by Gina and Marcus Ewart.  We are both very keen skiers and bikers and love Morzine & this area. We are passionate about delivering great holidays through excellent customer service.

We set up Reach4thealps in 2002 and we currently have a portfolio of 5 catered (winter only) and 15 self-catered properties in the Morzine & Les Gets area. All the chalets are of a high standard but what ensures our repeat rate stays high is the level of customer service and high standard of catering we offer along with the help of our staff, which is why we need to continue to have motivated, capable and happy staff.

 

Reach4thealps Sales & Marketing Manager

We are looking for someone to be a key member in the Reach4thealps office all year round, working alongside owners Gina and Marcus and our Chalet Operations Manager, Jo.

The key focus of this role will be to drive sales, operational planning and customer service.

Focus on driving sales by

  • Replying to email and phone enquiries
  • Keeping all availability up to date on our website and other websites that we advertise on (Airbnb, booking.com, VRBO etc)
  • Having in depth knowledge of the chalets/properties, the resorts of Morzine & Les Gets and the service we offer (menu, lifts, dinner times etc)
  • Suggesting new ideas for improving our marketing and sales
  • Designing newsletters via Mailchimp
  • Help improve our marketing to French guests & our understanding of the French market.

Managing guest relations through the sales process

  • By having a thorough understanding of our booking system
  • Dealing with enquiries from agencies
  • Taking payments, invoicing, pre arrival preparation, in resort experience and timely response to feedback.
  • Dealing with questions from guests with existing bookings (chasing and adding lift passes, transfers, dietary requirements to the bookings)

Marketing through our online presence

  • Keeping our website up to date by ensuring content is refreshed using weekly blogs and news items
  • Updating pricing and promotions on our website and agency websites
  • Promoting R4TA actively on social media (Facebook and Instagram)
  • Finding and implementing opportunities to work with relevant partners

Assist with Operational Planning

  • Scheduling airport transfers & communicating with drivers and guests
  • Working alongside the chalet manager to plan staff cover on changeover days, support staff, communication of rotas and quickly responding to situations to ensure guests receive a seamless service
  • Ensuring arrival instructions are up to date and guests have received them
  • Being an additional French speaker in the team at a good level to be able to welcome French guests and also be able to communicate with French tradesmen
  • Processing lift passes online

Occasional in-resort transfers

  • The ability to drive a minibus around resort with guests on the occasions it is needed & potentially do occasional airport transfers.

Salary

Package to be tailored to experience but we can offer a French contract (seasonal to start with but with the option to move to full time) based on 5 days a week winter season (1 Dec until end of April) and summer (1 June until end of Sept) 4 days a week the rest of the year.

Extra benefits such as use of a vehicle and a winter ski pass, mobile phone contract can be included.

Hours:

Winter 5 days a week (at least one day would be at the weekend, 2 days off and 1 or 2 days would be working a split shift so you can get out on the mountain.

Inter season 4 days a week and summer 5 days a week.

 

 

Housekeeping/Cleaning

We are looking to recruit a further 6 staff members for this summer based at Morzine.

We have a great opportunity for 3 couples or 6 single people looking to spend the summer out in Morzine working part time mainly at the weekends.

We have a team of 4 and looking for another 6 people to join the team this summer, each person to work 15 hours on average a week during the 10 weeks of the season (25th June till 28th of August).

The work will be cleaning of our self-catered apartments and chalets and welcoming guests and being their main point of contact during their stay.

This will be mostly at the weekends (approx 12-14 hours over the weekend and then 3-4 hours during the week, as we sometimes have mid week stay cleans or changeovers outwith the weekend). If you want to stay on till mid September there will additional work deep cleaning the chalets. Similarly if you want to arrive earlier in June, there will be work setting up the chalets.

The work will involve:

  • Deep clean of self-catered properties at the weekend, making beds.
  • Organisation of the linen (checking it comes back on time from the laundry company)
  • Stock control and purchase of cleaning products
  • Being the guest point of contact for certain properties and meeting and greeting the guests on arrival, giving our multi pass vouchers and giving advice on the property and resort /activities to the guests.
  • Communicating transfer times to the guests if we are doing their transfers.
  • Having a good knowledge on the properties the amenities, how heating, fire alarm, dishwashers, etc all work.
  • Organising your cleaning schedule with the rest of the team by liaising with departing guests.

Package:

  • For those who don’t live here we can offer shared accommodation and a monthly salary paid through the French system.
  • If you have a car and use it for work, you’ll be recompensed accordingly
  • For micro entrepreneur’s hourly wage is €20 an hour and we could guarantee you the set number of hours.

Resort Crew, Couple Position

Resort Crew are full time positions mixing housekeeping, regular hot tub upkeep, breakfast cover in the Catered chalets and flexibilty in assisting the Resort Manager. Our Resort Crew are an integral part of the team! Tasked with cleaning the self-catered properties at the weekends to the high Reach4thealps standards, ensuring hot tub upkeep and mid stay cleans in the catered chalets and stepping in for the Chalet Hosts to cover breakfast on their day off.

Being a Crew member is a great opportunity for those looking for a verstile role but who perhaps don’t have the catering/ cheffing experience required to be a full time chalet host.

The Chalet Crew’s work will involve managing the self-catered properties which entails:

* Doing the changeover cleans (Saturday & Sunday)
* Organising the linen (checking it comes back on time from the laundry company) and checking stocks of cleaning products.
* Being the guest point of contact for certain properties and meeting and greeting the guests on arrival, handing over lift passes.
* Setting the fire and making sure kindling and firewood is available for guests.
* Communicating transfer times to the guests.
* Having a good knowledge of the self-catered properties & resort.
* Maintain hot tubs (training provided), clear snow.
* Assisting the Resort Manager with designated, regular tasks.

The Resort Crew’s work will also involve helping at our catered chalets which entails:

* Prepare & cook breakfast & afternoon tea for our catered chalets when providing cover for chalet hosts mornings off
* Help with mid stay changeovers at catered properties when we have short breaks
* Driving guests to and from some of the chalets to the slopes (mini bus driver training provided, driving licence dependant)
* Help with weekend changeover when there is time

Chalet Helper/Driver

We are looking to recruit Chalet Helpers/Drivers based in Morzine, our Chalet Helper/Drivers are a key part of the team, making sure our guests can get from A to B and providing support in the chalets!

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • General help in the chalets
  • In resort transportation of guests
  • Airport transfers
  • Organising ski hire for guests & be the point of contact for all ski related questions

General help in the chalet means assisting the Chalet Hosts with general tasks such as setting the table for breakfast & dinner, helping serve meals, serving guests the canapés and aperitif pre dinner, clearing tables & washing up. Other responsibilites include keeping the honesty bar stocked, maintaining the hot tub, setting the fires, snow clearing, being in charge of wine supplies, being in charge of keeping the garage areas where skis and boots are stored clean and tidy.

Our In Resort service involves shuttling the guests from the chalet to the slopes in the mornings between 8.30 to 10.00 & afternoon pick ups from the slopes from 3.30pm onwards. As well as actually driving the guests you will need to organise the guests in a polite and efficient manner so that the service runs as smoothly as possible!

Our main Transfer Days are the weekends, when you will be required to do 2 trips to the airport, you will likely have to do a trip mid week as well when we have short break stays. You will be responsible for  looking after your van, keeping it clean, full of diesel, checking oil & that water is filled for wipers.

In terms of being the point of contact for all ski related questions, we would need you to quickly gain good knowledge of the local area, ski lift opening times, best places to ski/board, good beginner areas, be able to advise on restaurants on the mountain and also help guests at the ski hire shops that we use & be helpful in putting them in contact with ski schools if they require lessons. You would need to keep guests informed on the weather on a daily basis and any events on in the mountain.

A Typical Work Day

Morning:

·         Lay out & serve breakfast cooked by the hosts
·         Check hot tub & add chemicals/ water if needed
·         Defrost the van, clear any snow
·         Restock the honesty bar
·         Clean and set a new fire
·         Run guests to the slopes or ski hire shop
·         Update guests with weather/ski conditions
·         Clean communal areas in chalet

Afternoon off up the mountain skiing!

Evening:

·         Pick up guests from slopes/town
·         Help hosts clear away afternoon tea
·         Serve children’s meals if required
·         Serve aperitif & canapes, three course dinner, cheese & coffee

·         Help hosts wash and tidy up, clean kitchen

Driver/Maintenance

We are searching for a Driver/Maintenance person to be one of our main Airport/In resort drivers and to help maintain our chalets and hot tubs. The Driver/Maintenance Role is super important to keep the Winter season running smoothly and efficiently!

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Airport transfers
  • Maintenance in the chalets
  • In resort transportation of guests
  • General help in the chalets

Airport Transfers

Our main Transfer Days are Saturday and Sunday when you will be required to do 2 trips to the airport each day, you will most likely have to do a trip or 2 mid week when we have short break stays. You will be responsible for  looking after your van, keeping it clean, full of diesel, checking oil & that water is filled for wipers.

Maintenance In The Chalets

There are always small things going wrong in the chalets and we need a Mr or Ms Fix It! We aren’t talking about fixing major leaks or electrical problems, but things that typically need fixed are:

Shower hose breaks- needs replaced
Plug socket comes away from wall
Wifi issues- need to call Orange and reset box
Broken shelves
Hot tub issues
Dishwasher faults (blocking, error messages)
Blocked sinks
Broken headboard and chairs
Grout needs replaced
Vacuum cleaner need deblocked

We need someone with good general DIY experience who can use a hammer, a glue gun, sander, pair of plyers and above all their brain to diagnose the issues and fix things.

General Help In The Chalets

General help in the chalet means helping the chalet hosts with things such as setting the table for breakfast & dinner, serving both breakfast and dinner. Serving guests canapés and aperitif pre dinner, clearing tables & washing up. Maintaining hot tubs, setting the fires, snow clearing.

In Resort Service

Single Chalet Host, Morzine

We are looking to recruit a single Chalet Host for our catered chalets, Chalet Hibou and Chalet Chouette (each sleep 8-10). These are two chalets in the same location with a team of 3 staff.

You will work closely with the other hosts sharing the cooking as we work on a set menu so it is a nice opportunity for single applicants who want to be part of a small team.

It is ESSENTIAL that you have previous catering experience, whether it is professional catering experience in a restaurant or hotel environment or having been a Chalet Host previously (where cooking rather than assisting a chef was required). The role requires someone who gets on well with people from all walks of life, can cook to a high standard, is well organised, takes pride in doing the job properly with great attention to detail, has a lot of energy and can work as part of a team.

You will be required to provide breakfast with a daily cooked option, a cake for afternoon tea, hot and cold canapes and a 3-course evening meal, as well as cleaning the chalet daily and changing over the chalet on the day of departure/arrival of the guests. In addition, there will be some weeks when we have guests staying for a short break and the chalet needs to be changed over mid-week but additional help to do the changeover will be given on these weeks.

Couple Chalet Host Positions, Morzine

We are looking to recruit a Chalet Host couple to run Claire Vallee (sleeps 10-12), a central Morzine chalet.

Do you both or does one of you have professional catering experience? Do you want to work for a small family run company where you are not just a number but a vital team member? Are you organised, hard working and capable of running your own chalet? Have you worked together before and do you enjoy looking after people? Do you love the mountains and skiing or boarding?

The role requires someone who gets on well with people from all walks of life, can cook to a very high standard, is well organised, takes pride in doing the job properly with great attention to detail and has a lot of energy!

You will manage your own chalet, providing breakfast with a daily cooked option, baking a cake for afternoon tea, preparing hot and cold canapes and preparing and serving a 3-course evening meal, as well as cleaning the chalet daily and changing over the chalet on the day of departure/arrival of the guests.

Food is really important to us and is one of the reasons why so many guests come back to stay with us year after year. We work to a set menu which we have created with an experienced chef who has experience running a chalet to ensure that the menu is delicious and varied but also achievable for our hosts!  As well as being fabulous cooks the job requires you to take a genuine interest in the guests, welcoming them and creating a warm friendly atmosphere whilst keeping the chalet spotlessly clean, ensuring the bathrooms & bedrooms are cleaned daily. The role requires the chalet host to buy for the menu (thereby keeping within budget), do a weekly stock check and to do the grocery shopping .

  • There are 2 days off a week and 2.5 holiday/sick days per month that will be paid at the end of the season
  • Reach4thealps will also organise and pay for team events in the season, typically night sledging, cross country skiing and or a meal in a mountain restaurant, an important way to say thanks and to come together as a team and just have fun!
  • We also have high standard, well located accommodation that is available for rent though our sister company at a lower rate than the market average.

Training

Successful applicants will be offered a place on our winter training course commencing in early December. Reach4thealps will pay for all food during this course and will pay for the costs of the training provided by trained chefs & our management team. On completing this course you will be given a contract with Reach4thealps and pay will begin after the completion of this training week.

The employee will need to organise their own insurance to cover their free time, skiing & personal belongings.

DUE TO BREXIT & FRENCH EMPLOYMENT RULES WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

* EU Passport holders
* British passport holders/other nationalities with French residency which is called a Titre De Sejour (or who are in process of applying for residency) allowing them to work in France
* Other nationalities with the right to work in France (young traveller working visa)
* British passport holders who don’t have French residency BUT who have either worked a ski season before as a Chalet Host or who have relevant hospitality experience (we, as the employer would have to apply for a working visa for you)
