Ice skating is a great activity for the whole family and there are plenty of places to do it in both Morzine and Les Gets.
Morzine has two ice rinks. An indoor and an outdoor one. The outdoor one can be found in the main tourist office square, just moments from the Pleney telecabine. It’s a great option if you’re looking for a break from the snow or want to do something special with the little ones. The rink provides small stability penguins meaning that even the youngest of children can have a go on the ice. Check the timings of when the rink is open though as it doesn’t open all day. If the weather’s nice this is the perfect activity..the rink is next to a few bars and restaurants and boasts stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
If the weather isn’t so great then don’t worry, you can still go skating in Morzine. The Palais des Sports boasts a large indoor ice rink which is home to the Chamonix- Morzine Pioneers Ice Hockey Club. By day, the rink is uses by the public and ice skating clubs, by night it turns into a loud, lively and exhilarating sporting arena! For a few hours each afternoon the rink is open to the public. If the weather outside is bad then this is a great activity for the whole family.
Les Gets also boasts its own outdoor ice rink. Its in a great location in the centre of Les Gets just next to the main tourist office and also the Chavannes telecabine. It’s always full of people of different ages having a go at skating. It has great views of both Mont Chery and the Les Gets pistes and its lively music makes it really fun for all ages. Like the Morzine rink, it has a stock of stability penguins to help any little children that would like to go.
The rink isn’t open all day so check opening times before going. It’s mainly open in the mid afternoon through to the evening and doesn’t open if the weather is bad. Don’t forget if you’re in Les Gets and want to skate, you can always hop on the bus into Morzine to try the indoor rink there.
