Chalet Host Job Application
It is ESSENTIAL that you have previous cooking experience, whether it is cooking in a restaurant or hotel environment or having been a Chalet Host previously (where cooking rather than assisting a chef was required).
The role requires someone who gets on well with people from all walks of life, can cook to a high standard, is well organised, takes pride in doing the job properly with great attention to detail, has a lot of energy and can work as part of a team.
You will be required to provide breakfast with a daily cooked option, a cake for afternoon tea, hot and cold canapes and a 3-course evening meal. You will also clean the chalet daily and deep clean the chalet on the day of departure/arrival of the guests. In addition, there will be some weeks when we have guests staying for short breaks and the chalet will need to be changed over mid-week.
A Typical Day of a Chalet Host
Morning:
- Lay out continental breakfast & cook the daily hot option to order
- Make beds, clean bathrooms & empty bins
- General tidy up, vacuum communal living areas & mop the floors
- Check the hot tub
- Prepare & lay out afternoon tea
- Prepare for the evening meal
- Afternoon – ski!
Evening:
- Clear away afternoon tea
- Cook & serve children’s meals if required
- Prepare & serve canapes & three course dinner, followed by cheese & coffee
- Clean and tidy the kitchen
- Lay table for breakfast
- Take the bins out
Standard weekly tasks:
- Put laundry out for collection, put away clean laundry
- Stock take and complete online food orders, weekly supermarket shop
- Mid-week towel change for all rooms
- Changeover all bedrooms & clean communal areas (every Sunday with some mid-week changeovers)
- Take care of guest requests, questions & problems
- Additional preparation for staff days off
What kind of people are we looking for?
Essential:
Previous cooking experience, whether it is cooking in a restaurant or hotel environment or having been a Chalet Host previously (where cooking rather than assisting a chef was required) and the ability to work well within a small team.
You also need to:
- Be hard working & have stamina
- Be well organised and be good at managing your time
- Be outgoing and enjoy dealing with people
- Be a cheery person with a positive attitude
Package:
- Competitive monthly salary paid through the French system (in euros)

- We also have high standard, well located accommodation that is available for rent though our sister company at a lower rate than the market average.
Training
Successful applicants will join our winter training course commencing in early December. Reach4theAlps will pay for the costs of the training provided by trained chefs & our management team.
The employee will need to pay for their own insurance to cover their free time, skiing & personal belongings.
