Ice Skating
Ice skating is a great activity for the whole family. It's a great option if you're looking for a break from the snow or want to do something special with the little ones. No matter the weather, Morzine and Les Gets have you covered with plenty of places to enjoy this family activity.Â
MorzineÂ
Morzine is home to both indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks, giving you the luxury of choice for how you enjoy your time skating. The Palais de Sport ice skating rink offers respite from wintery snow days, or, when the weather is just too good to be inside, stay in the sun and skate in the centre of the town.Â
Â
Indoor Ice-skating Rink
The Palais des Sports boasts a large indoor ice rink. The 56 x 26m rink is home to the Morzine Hockey Club or "Les Penguins". Open daily, the ice rink welcomes the public each afternoon and offers on-site skate rentals. Choose between classic or field hockey skates. The accompanying dedicated children's play area, on-site bar, and snack bar make for an easy and fun way to spend an afternoon with the family. Â
Why not visit the ice rink at night?Â
For an unforgettable evening, soak up the loud, lively and exhilarating sporting arena by night. Enjoy ice hockey with the family, Go Penguins!Â

Â
Outdoor Ice Skating Rink
When the weather is nice, the outdoor ice rink is the perfect activity for children. Located in the main tourist office square, just moments from the Pleney telecabine, it is an ideal way to fill time before an afternoon ski lesson or after a morning on the slopes.Â
The rink is conveniently situated next to the square's bars and restaurants. If you don't fancy joining the kids on the ice, you can soak up the sun and the stunning mountain views in one of the bar restaurant terraces, a refreshing drink in hand, while remaining close enough that you are able to keep an eye on the little ones.Â
For younger skaters, the rink provides small stability penguins, allowing even the youngest of children to have a go on the ice.Â
Be sure to check the opening times before you visit, as the rink doesn't stay open all through the day.Â
Â
Les Gets
Les Gets also boasts its own outdoor ice rink. Slightly larger than the Morzine outdoor rink, it's in a great location in the centre of Les Gets, just next to the main tourist office and Chavannes telecabine. A popular spot, it is always full of people of different ages enjoying the ice. It has great views of both Mont Chery and the Les Gets pistes, and a fun atmosphere with lively music, making it really fun for all ages.Â
If you are skating with little ones, be sure to ask for one of their stock of stability penguins to help your child have confidence on the ice. Also, like Morzine, be sure to check opening times before visiting, as the rink isn't open all day.Â
Â
For both Les Gets and Morzine outdoor ice rinks, when the weather is bad, they tend not to open. If you're in Les Gets and want to skate, don't let the bad weather stop you! Remember, you can easily hop on a bus to Morzine to enjoy the indoor rink and facilities at the Palais du Sport.Â
